This was probably one of the best shows I’ve been to in a while. Everything from the lights to the harmonies to the silence of the crowd made the performance so eerily amazing and emotional. Nate Chan, the Blogotheque’s director of the Bon Iver’s performance at the Independent in SF, describes it best here as something that “must be felt, must be heard, must be witnessed. His songs, my God, his songs hit like a car crash, jolt at the core, adrenaline pulsing at the touch, goose-bumps being lifted. The audience came like a flood, 50 minutes later, the show was over, the crowd dissipates…Time had stop. Something magical had happened, and I still can’t figure out what it was”.

Lump Sum was one of my favorite songs performed that night. Wolves (Act I & II) was amazing, of course, due to the fact that the entire crowd chimed in on the resonating “what might’ve been lost” line. But really, the entire show was incredible. And although the footage is mostly a black & white shot of Justin Vernon’s face, I think it’s oddly appropriate. It really was that simple and haunting.

I wish I could hug Blogotheque right now. They captured something special here. To me, at least. But instead I’ll post this and hope someone else realizes how wonderful Bon Iver and Blogotheque are. And maybe give them a bearhug for me.
